I recently read an article about business networking that really caught my attention. If you are introverted or not use to being at highly attended events, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and lose focus. Guess what? This is a natural feeling for many people. We go to an event and want to make new friends or business acquaintances, but we end up not accomplishing much because we become nervous.

If we remember why we are there, and focus on others, it becomes much easier to be more successful at business networking functions. I think Jameson Fleming’s Adweek article, “9 Expert Tips to Make Networking Easier at Industry Events”, really had some impactful advice.

“Remind yourself that there’s no need to be self-conscious because it’s really not about you. Learn about people; ask them questions. If you are honestly interested in others and what they do, you will make some good connections.”
